Winter Hibernation // Don’t Get Lazy On Your Faith!

Here in Michigan, winter has hit us fast & hard. Usually by January we’ve already had a month of bitter cold temperatures to prepare our bodies. However this past December we had a very mild, actually warm winter month which is fantastic!!! But this past week it’s been frigid outside, the snow is falling hard & I am slowly becoming lazier & lazier!

Every winter I go into hibernation mode. I only wear oversized sweatshirts & sweat pants, I eat only junk food, & I never leave the house unless I absolutely have too. But the biggest issue here is I also become very lazy in my prayer life. I hardly pick up the bible, I lack on my church attendance and overall just check out for a couple of months. This is NOT acceptable. I know better. But this winter season I am making a change and digging deeper into the Word of God & embracing every moment I have. I will not allow the enemy to use my weaknesses against me.

This particular verse I came across and it really gave me motivation. Isaiah 40:8 states that even though everything around us seems to be withering away, the beautiful colors fade, trees and plants are dying, but that HIS word is alive & well!  It’s as beautiful as they come! The Word does not require sunshine, warm weather and beaches to be able to read it. Below are some bible verses that also give us motivation to not become lazy…

Proverbs 13:4 // “The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.”

Proverbs 6:9 // ” How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from arise from your sleep?”

Proverbs 10:5 // “He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.”

So even if we are feeling quite lazy, cold and in a funk, let’s grab a delicious cup of coffee, a warm blanket and our bible and dig deeper into God’s word!!!

Xoxo // God Bless
